Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe skipped the collective training session on Saturday and would miss the 15-meal European Champions' Group H match against Pachuca at the Club World Cup while recovering from disease, the club said.
Mbappe, who was admitted earlier this week in a hospital in Miami Area with acute gastroenteritis, was staying in the team hotel and would not travel to Charlotte, North Carolina for Sunday's game, said a real spokesperson.
Mbappe was excluded from Real's opening match against Al-Hilal, which ended in a 1-1 draw and left RB Salzburg at the top of the table with three points after she defeated the Mexican side Pachuca with 2-1.
Mbappe had been isolated from his teammates since Tuesday before being taken to the hospital on Wednesday and was fired on Thursday.
A club source said earlier this week that Mbappe was not expected to participate in a group game at the Club World Cup.
