“We are in contact” – Real Madrid superstar confirms he is close to signing new contract

Real Madrid has already closed three summer signs and more things will be done in the coming weeks. And it is not only additions to the team of Xabi Alonso where the club's sports department is working on.

Contracts for existing players are also on the agenda for Real Madrid. Vinicius Junior is expected to tilt a new deal in the coming weeks, while it has already been reported that Breakout star Raul Asencio has written an extension. And there is also movement with regard to Thibaut Courtois.

The current Courtois deal is ending at the end of next season, which means that there is a danger about his future. But Real Madrid plans to eliminate this by agreeing a new contract, and has confirmed the man himself (via Fabrizio Romano) that negotiations are underway between club and player.

“I want to innovate and we have contact. I want to stay in Real Madrid.”

Courtois is always present in the goal of Real Madrid since he came to Chelsea in 2018. And he will continue as the first cool man of the club under new head coach Xabi Alonso, where he does not show any signs of dropping his level despite the fact that he is now 33 years old.

Usually Real Madrid has offered annual contracts to players older than 30 years, but Courtois is expected to violate this rule by offering him a two-year deal-which would bring him through 2028. And given his level, there would be no surprise here, because it is limited that he is being poached by another club for Los Blancos willing to leave.

For the time being, Courtois is aimed at the club World Cup, where he will again be an important player for Real Madrid. But later in the summer he has to agree a new contract to stay with the Santiago Bernabeu again.
