Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said on Saturday that his club will have to sell players this summer for his own good of the stars.
The Premier League side brought in various players for the World Cup Club, leaving Guardiola a large team behind.
Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has been associated with a move to the Turkish side Galatasaray in recent days.
Guardiola said he knew nothing about it, but said that different players should be sold after purchases from Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
“I would like to have the players we now have the entire season,” Guardiola told reporters in Atlanta.
“The problem is that they will be unhappy during the season, they will be sad, they will be disappointed.
“I don't want that. I do it for them, not for me. For them. We have to see what is happening, it is long until the transfer window will be closed, we must see step by step.”
Guardiola has said in the past that he prefers a team size of around 20 senior players, while City currently has more than 30.
Before the Squad City is trimmed, it hopes to win the club World Cup in the United States with their newcomers who offer new energy.
They defeated Wydad AC in their first game and are opposed to Al Ain in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday where they can seal the qualification until the last 16.
Guardiola said that the Spanish defensive midfielder Rodri could not start the game while he continues his comeback due to injury.
“He gets better. He can play for 20 minutes, 30 minutes at a time. He wants to play to help, but we want to protect his knee,” the coach said.
'Privilege'
Guardiola said he wanted to take the city far in the World Cup Club and it was a “privilege to be here”.
The coach rejected some complaints about the competition and pointed to the attitude of the South American clubs as an example of Follow.
“I love it when I see Botafogo, all Brazilian teams, Argentinian teams, how they celebrate, how they are together, I love them,” said Guardiola.
“I am pretty sure that the South American teams, for the Brazilian teams, for Argentinian teams, this competition is perhaps the maximum …
“I like how all games are tight, except one or two, and people are surprised, losing European teams. Welcome to the real world. Welcome to the real world my friends.”
Guardiola said that the Brazilian parties would have a “carnival for a week” if they won the tournament.
After Manchester City had not won a trophy, apart from the community shield, it would offer a boost on the way to the new season.
Guardiola said his team and staff, both with newcomers, enjoyed time with each other and their facilities in Florida.
“It's a privilege to be here … To be back in four years, you have to win big, big prizes,” Guardiola said.
“Once we are here, why shouldn't we fight to stay longer and longer and longer …
“We can say that it is annoying to come here (but) I want to arrive in the final phase, and that is the truth.”
