Manchester City has passed a disappointing campaign 2024-25, but Pep Guardiola has told its stars that the FIFA Club World Cup is a chance for them to make things right
Pep Guardiola has told his players that they are starting the club World Cup again this summer. That has been a very clear message from the boss of Manchester City who wants to leave last season's disappointments in the past and concentrate on returning to the top.
The Club World Cup actually got stuck at the end of the 2024/25 calendar, but that year was one of the worst of the city for many years when they end the campaign empty -handed. They gave their Premier League title, lost the FA Cup final and had an early exit from the Champions League and were also besieged by injuries.
There is a clear determination to leave them behind them and to concentrate on the future, namely try to put themselves back on top of the world.
City has largely ruled the Premier League since Guardiola took the lead, they won the previous incarnation of the club World Cup in Saudi Arabia in 2023.
This new look competition probably does not see City as the favorites, because they have been possible in the recent past and that is why Guardiola is channeling his positive thought and energy to get them there.
This was delivered in team discussions and also spent with almost £ 300 million in 2025 for a new cityline-up with people like Kyle Walker and Jack Grealishe will probably follow Kevin De Bruyne from the output door.
City's Brazil wing player Savinho, 21, who in the early hours of Monday in the British time in their second game in the US in the US in the US in the US in the US in Atlanta is in the US in the US, said: “This is very much the new season for us.
“I am really happy that we have been able to bring in four of such quality enhancations. They train really well and integrate into a group that is really arranged, so that is good to see. I am looking forward to coming to the field with them.”
Savinho was a bright spot in the city season when the 21-year-old came to £ 30 million in 2024 and really put his pace, goals and energy on the map.
The season in general was a frustrating thing for the city, but Savinho says that despite the setbacks it was a large learning curve for him.
Savinho said: “I certainly learned a lot and I felt that I evolved a lot as the season progressed. Thanks to Pep, my teammates and the coaches, that is. But I want to improve even more this season. To get more goals, more assists and to help the team.
“I am so happy here here. We have done some great work and great preparation. I am really happy to be here and my teammates, the coaches are very enthusiastic about the tournament. We have submitted the hard yards, we have prepared well and we are really ready for the game of tomorrow.”
Nico Gonzalez was one of the big signs in January when he was £ 50 million and was seen as an essential arrival to help connect Rodri's gap that missed almost the entire season with a cross magazines with knee.
That was a huge blow and problem for the city's season, but Rodri is coming back and Gonzalez says he learns from the midfielder of Spain. He said: “He went back a few months, he is a great player and really good at everything that can be good in a midfielder.
“I try to learn the most what I can do and I think I am starting to look at it at its best level. I see things that I have not seen in many midfielders.”
