Jowe Bellingham is open on his move to Borussia Dortmund after scoring his first goal for the club.
Earlier this month, Bellingham joined Dortmund from Sunderland for a first fee of £ 27.8 million plus £ 4 million in add-ons, and he currently represents the German club at the Club World Cup.
Bellingham scored his first goal for Dortmund on Saturday when he found the net against Mamelodi Sundowns in a 4-3 victory in the group stage.
The 19-year-old follows in the footsteps of his brother Jude by signing for Dortmund.
Jude played for Dortmund between 2020 and 2023 before he came to Real Madrid.
Jowe revealed that he settles well in Dortmund after his move.
Bellingham told FIFA: 'It's really good. I met the boys and signed before I dropped. So I feel that I am really starting to settle with the team. It is clear that it is difficult for a new club and then immediately fly away, but many people made it as easy as possible for me. So, to be honest, it was really fun. '
The midfielder also discussed the fact that he has his first name 'Jobe' on the back of his shirt instead of 'Bellingham'.
Bellingham stated that he likes to have his first name on his shirt, because it is 'unique' and 'fairly cool'.
He said: 'Well, when I'm very honest, it started of course when I first signed for Sunderland. I may have thought about it a few times. I thought: yes, that would be quite cool. But only when people brought it to me. I never thought about it as spontaneously alone.
“Someone near me would say:” That would be cool if you would do that. ” And then, someone who is very special for me – a coach I had in Sunderland and in Birmingham when I was a child – he said, “Why don't you do that in Sunderland?” And just because I was young, I thought: it would be cool to have my own name on the back of my shirt. So it was more than anything (different).
“I didn't really try to have a deeper meaning behind it, but I think you can find that in that action. But yes, I think it's pretty unique and it's pretty cool, and it's something I like. '
Moreover, Bellingham revealed that he was inspired by players such as Premier League legends Patrick Vieira and Steven Gerrard.
He said, “Even [Diego] Maradona's documentary is great, but there is nothing that I can learn from him because he is too good. But yes, players like – even Patrick Vieira. I didn't really get it – of course I couldn't see it at all. I watch many clips from him, which is really strange, because I always thought he was more defensive, but it turns out that he really does everything.
'And I look at players in that position, and now as a midfielder of six or a box. So, even Gerrard, I watch all the time and many other midfield players. '
