Dani Carvajal suffers Club World Cup blow in preseason update

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal may not stand up at the FIFA Club World Cup because his injury repair in the US continues.

The Spain International missed most of the regular season 2024/25 due to a horrible knee injury including an ACL Teacher.

The resilient defender set himself the target to return to action in the US, but that now looks uncertain according to reports from Diario Sport.

In an interview in May, Carvajal admitted: 'The plan' would come back to the tournament, but rumors indicate medical reports that he will be stopped until the preseason in July.

If Carvajal is not risking by Xabi Alonso in North America, he will be kept in reserve, in addition to fellow absent David Alaba in the long term.

Real Madrid did not confirm in this stage, with their full focus on the club World Cup, which could extend until mid-July if they go deep in the knockout rounds.

There is the potential for the team – or certain members – to stay in the US to play games with a few games back in Spain before the La Liga campaign of 2025/26 starts on August 17.

This is a huge debate for fans of Real Madrid on their way to 2025/26 and a question that Alonso is still looking for an answer to.

The early signs indicate that Alonso is happy to be flexible about the starting position of Trent, but his current place will be fair in a four -person defense.

Carvajal is a more natural fit as a defender, with the temptation to push Trent further forward, but that should change in a back three.

The latter is an idea in Alonso's spirit, with Carvajal next to Antonio Rudiger and Dean Huijsen, but if he returns to full fitness, the pressure will be back on Trent.
