UFC commentator pays tribute to ‘gracious and kind’ Jon Jones after MMA retirement

Congratulation messages from prominent UFC figures remain in for Jon Jones.

Dana White announced the retirement of Jones during his press conference in Baku on Saturday, ending a career that is generally considered the largest ever seen.

But the news has not marked exactly the most precious farewell for Jones, whose final act as UFC was a heavyweight champion to prevent the titles from being connected to his interim counter.

Jones rejected the Tom Aspinall fight in the months after his victory over Stipe Miocic last November. That attitude never staggered, despite the fact that Dana White guaranteed that Jones vs. Aspinall would happen.

Although that is many about Jones's pension, a UFC commentator has nothing but positive words for him.

Jon Anik praises Jon Jones to withdraw for his impact on MMA

Among those who shared their thoughts in the aftermath of Jones's pension announcement was Jon Anik.

The Lead-by-Play commentator of the UFC has a chair in the front row for the important moments during the last part of Jones's Octagon career, and he thought about the greatness of the resident of Rochester in a long tribute on Instagram.

“Congratulations to the (goat), @jonnybones about achieving more as a mixed martial arts hunter than every man had before!” Anik wrote.

“Many public figures are constantly misunderstood. The infectious smile and the presence of Jones Verhulped the absolute murderer who lived in it. For more than 15 years, I have witnessed the gracefulness, kindness and generosity of this man with the UFC fanbase.

“His success has helped to raise the UFC and MMA and indirectly helped boys like me to earn a living in the sport we all keep so dear,” Anik added.

“Appreciate all the time, energy and love over the years. You will be missed.”

Jon Jones issues the first statement about MMA pension

Anik received some recoil in the comments because of his description of Jones, who is often entangled in controversial things away from the cage.

This includes during his current pension celebrations, as news of a criminal summons accusing Jones of leaving the scene of an accident, broke only a few hours after White had confirmed the now formator of heavyweight champion.

That was not dealt with in the first statement of Jones about his retirement, which was placed on X.

Today I officially announce my pension from the UFC. This decision comes after a lot of reflection and I want to take the time to express my deepest gratitude for the journey I have experienced over the years.

The 37-year-old claimed that a lot of 'reflection' went into his decision to hang his gloves.
