Toulouse FC has confirmed that Djibril Sidibé (32) will remain in the club for the coming season 2025/26 after his one -year contract extension clause was officially activated.
The World Cup winner World Cup 2018 closed himself at the Violets on a free transfer last summer after a spell with AEK Athens. His first one-year-old deal included a conditional option for an extra year, which has now been activated after the defender has made 26 Ligue performances and surpassed the 20-match thresholds in the agreement.
The future of Sidibé was briefly questioned because of administrative changes in the club. President Damien Comolli, who had negotiated the original deal, delayed the activation of the clause. With Neil Chugani who comes in as an interim president, the club has honored the agreement, allowing the 32-year-old to continue in Haute-Garonne.
According to L'équipe, Sidibé had also reached a verbal agreement with Comolli for a potential expansion to the 2026/27 season. That concept is now considered invalid, whereby the new leadership of the club is said to mention the age of the player as a barrier for further renewal.
Despite the fight of an Achilles tendon injury that kept him outside early in the season, Sidibé settled as a reliable figure in a young TFC team, which mainly as the right-sided center-back in a three-man defense.gffn | worked. George Boxall
