The promotion of Tom Aspinall to the undisputed champion could have come at a better time.
The interim heavyweight champion of the UFC for almost 600 days, Tom Aspinall pursued Long Long a title bundle with the legendary champion Jones, a fight that never flourished.
Jones withdrew from the UFC during the weekend, with UFC CEO Dana White revealed his decision when he was asked about the state of the heavyweight division at the UFC Baku Post-Fight Press Conference in Azerbaijan.
White also confirmed Aspinall as the new undisputed heavyweight champion.
The father and coach of Aspinall were not happy with how the UFC dealt with the ASPINALL announcement on Saturday evening.

Andy Aspinall told UFC Brass 'I can't think of a worse way that you could have done it'
Team Aspinall discovered around midnight in England about the promotion of Aspinall in England.
The father of Aspinall, Andy Aspinall, was brutally honest in his response to UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell who had his son his son promoted to the undisputed champion.
'Tom called me to tell me that hunter [Campbell] Had told him, “Aspinall told Petesy Carroll of Uncrown.
'Hunter texts me and says:' Dana [White] has just announced that Tom is the champion … ', which was the same message he had sent Tom.'
“I sent a message back to Hunter and said:” I can't think of a worse way that you could have done it “.
“I just think it is, I don't know if the word is pathetic – I just feel that they have not thought about it. For me the heavyweight championship of an organization is quite a big thing and I don't think Tom deserved to find out during a press conference in the middle of the night.”
“I can't think of a worse way to do it, perhaps if they woke us up to tell us it would have been worse,” Aspinall went on.
“We happen to be awake at the time. It is a poor man management of Jones and Tom. I love the UFC staff, but for me they just don't do things well. Of course it is a hugely successful company, but I think something like that thought after everything we have experienced with this.”
Tom Aspinall gets wall painting as an undisputed UFC champion
Although the start of his undisputed title government was perhaps overwhelming, Aspinall hopes to be an active, title defender in this new era.
Before the promotion of last weekend, Aspinall had signed a long -term partnership with Champion, a popular sportswear brand.
Aspinall posed for a photo with their new mural, which covered the side of a building in Manchester, England.
“There is only one champion,” Aspinall wrote on Instagram.
