Sporting Lisbon has a hatred of losing Viktor Gyokeres, but they have identified a replacement striker, who can finally open the door for the Swede to become a member of Arsenal
Sporting Lisbon seems to be planning for life after Viktor Gyokeres, while the Portuguese champions Almeria's Luis Javier Suarez features as their most important target to replace the Swede, which is on the radar of Arsenal.
Gyokees scored more than 50 times previous term when his party claimed the title, so that a number of clubs pursued a blockbuster summer agreement. Arsenal and Manchester United are the two Premier League parties that are strongly connected to his signature.
Sporting has tried to withstand their star man, but Gyokees has made it clear that he wants to search new.
And according to reports in Europe, they have now identified Suarez as their top choice to replace Gyokeres at the top of the field for the coming campaign of 2025-26.
The Portuguese side excelled when it comes to unlocking talent with some of their signing sessions that will later continue for enormous profit. Suarez, which is covered by Colombian, is currently playing in the second layer of Spanish football, but scored 31 times in the past term.
It was reported that Sporting was willing to sell Gyokeres for around £ 65 million, which is less than his release clause. The player is clashing with club bosses about those who apparently demand more than previously agreed, what his exit has complicated.
Their club president, Frederico Varandas, claims that there was no men's agreement on his exit and insisted on it: “I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for 60 million euros plus 10 million euros because I have never promised that. Until today, sport has not been offered for Gyokees – neither last season.”
The priority of Arsenal this summer is to sign a striker and they have made Benjamin Sesko their top objective. The Slovenian is impressed by RB Leipzig, but his wage requirements complicate negotiations and the Gunners could still run to Gyokees.
The Swede has previously played in England. He spent time in Brighton, Swansea and Coventry. They were his performances with the Sky Blues in the championship that first caught the attention of Ruben Amorim when he was in charge of the sport, where he was a huge success.
The connection of Gyokeres with Amorim has led to a move to Manchester United, who want to add more firepower. Their lack of Champions League football could be a problem, because the striker regards his options in the coming weeks, with Arsenal his preferred destination.
