Midfielder of Manchester City Rodri has admitted that it will be “months” before he is at his best again. Spain-star Rodri returns from a long-lasting cross-blower with knee-blisters who kept him outside for the most part of last season.
Rodri uses the Club World Cup to perform its fitness to prepare for the following season, but admits that he is still looking for his top form and his sharpness.
City missed their most important midfielder badly last year and it is clear that Rodri fears it will take a while before they get it at his best.
Rodri, who will be in the team to face Juventus in their last group match, said: “I feel very, very strong, to be honest. The process was long, but I took my time.
“The most important thing was to stay focused and be strong. Don't be sad or whatever. One day I come back and this day finally came and I am very excited to play again.

“I know it will still be months until I reach my level, but I am so happy. I feel very good, very happy to be here. It is a great tournament to start playing football again.
“I am very enthusiastic to come to the team again, to go with them on the field, the most important thing. I am very enthusiastic to work with them and to win.”
Rodri was rather critical that players have to play too many games and also an exhausting calendar.
But Rodri says that the Club World Cup is ideal for him to strengthen his fitness. He added: “Now it's a huge opportunity for me to come back.
“Maybe if this tournament does not happen, I will be on vacation. But for me it is individually a great opportunity to come back to the highest level and play a tournament that we never played.
“The idea is great, to be honest. I think we are enthusiastic. You can see the difference between the clubs of and all over the world. It is good and interesting for people.”
