However, Jones delayed the announcement of his decision for seven months after he was begged to reconsider.
“I was told 1000 times to just reconsider and just give it more time. That's the truth,” he tweeted.
A fan followed by asking why Dana White claimed that a fight with Aspinall was 'ready'.
“When the fight was ready, believe me, I would fight,” Jones replied.
“We started negotiating at some point, yes, but [it] Was never done.
“At the time, my job was to sit back and be quiet about it and that is exactly what I did.
“I enjoyed my life that should have been clear to you.”
Jones quickly removed the answer from his feed and continued to communicate with fans.
The American icon even praised White as a 'genius' in a follow -up post about Power Slap.

“He called us and just started saying:” You know what, I think I'm done, I want to retire, it has been a great run and I appreciate everything, “said White. “It was it, and he was absolutely certain that he wanted to retire.
“We said,” Why don't you sleep on it and if you wake up in the morning, if you still feel like that … “” asked if he felt that the call was emotional, white did not give a strong answer, but added: “Yes, I never know what Jon Jones has to do with.
'Then you wake up the next day and [he’s facing legal issues]So who knows? We do not know everything that went in this decision.
“It's something you should ask him if you ever see him more, but I don't know the answer to these questions. The only thing I know is that he has made it very clear that he wanted to retire, and I disagree with him.”
