The move from Florian Wirtz to Liverpool broke the British transfer record after the Reds agreed to pay a colossal £ 116 million for the Bayer Leverkusen Pelenmaker
Jurgen Klopp has warned the new Liverpool Florian Wirtz that his price tag of £ 116 million will put a target on his back. Wirtz, 22, has joined the Reds in a British record transfer agreement and signed a lucrative five -year contract.
Liverpool aroused the interest of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to sign the German international of Bayer Leverkusen. The former club of Klopp pays Leverkusen a fixed £ 100 million plus £ 16 million in potential add-ons.
Despite describing Wirtz as a 'excellent player', the ex-Reds boss cannot help but Baulk for the fee. In an interview with the German newspaper Welt, Klopp said: “There is no doubt about it, it is an insane sum, and one that a player in Liverpool knows whether things are not going well for two or three games.
“We all agree that we are talking about a great player here. I know I once said that I am out if we pay 100 million euros for a player. But the world changes. That's just the way the market is.”
The 58-year-old continued with Hail Wirtz, who has the difficult task to improve the Premier League champions. “I don't know exactly what position Arne (Slot) Florian has in mind,” Klopp noted.
“He is an excellent player who can give something great every club. Whether he will make the ruling English champions even better.”
It is not the first time Klopp has responded to the record -breaking movement from Wirtz to Anfield. Red Bull's head of Global Football Operations said last week with the German broadcaster RTL, said: “It will really be, really great. I'm sure.
“It is very difficult to strengthen them if you are champions. But Liverpool has succeeded. They have drawn an exceptional talent in Florian Wirtz.”

Klopp can get the inside of Wirtz's progress thanks to maintaining a strong relationship with Liverpool. “We are in very good contact – with some players who write occasionally or occasionally send a photo of their vacation,” he revealed to Welt. “The owners have become good friends.”
Klopp also jokes: “I also written to Arne every now and then; we only saw each other once. He was satisfied with my gesture then. And to be honest: when things started so well among him, I briefly asked myself if a person was happy that things were like that.”
