‘That’s the truth’… Jon Jones compares himself to Muhammad Ali after blaming the UFC for drawn out retirement

Since the announcement of his retirement, Jon Jones has been very active on social media in answering fans.

The former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion has taken back on some of the criticism he has confronted since he called time for his career.

Jones responded to the claim of Demetrious Johnson that he should be discredited in the UFC goat debate, while tackling many other comments.

Although Tom Aspinall stated that he knew that the fight would not happen, many fans kept hope for a huge heavyweight title unification.

The expectation grew after positive updates from the UFC, which Jones disputed, before trying to clarify why his retirement took so long to become official.

Jon Jones compares himself to sport of all time after he claimed that his stepped retirement was not his fault

Fans became so frustrated about both Jon Jones and the UFC during this process, because all the signs pointed out that 'bones' had no intentions to return to the Octagon.

As a result, the heavyweight division was stopped with Tom Aspinall who was forced to wait before he was eventually promoted to be undisputed.

Jones said earlier at the beginning of the month that he had already told the UFC what his plans were and that the promotion chose to continue to present him as the heavyweight champion.

In a response to a fan to X, he again suggested that although he had already reached a decision about his future, it was the UFC who kept slowing every action.

When responding to some of the criticism with which he was confronted, specifically with regard to the non -fighting of Aspinall after the UFC claimed that he had agreed to the fight, Jones compared himself to some of the all time in sport in a statement about X.

“Tom Brady LeBron James, you name it. Very rarely can you really be good at something and I have a couple of people who think how they would have done things differently. Even Mohammed Ali was absolutely hated by everyone at a certain point in his life. It comes with a territory. They hated Bruce Lee when he first came to America”

UFC 317 takes place this Saturday where a new lightweight champion is crowned in the main event when Ilia Topuria takes on Charles Oliveira.

During his spree to respond to fans to X, 'Bones' was asked for a prediction for the matchup.

In various other statements, Jones claimed that he is working even harder now that he is retiring, and the negativity he receives as “like WWE” trivializes.
