Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was proud of his players after they had achieved a dramatic 4-1 victory over Benfica to reach the quarter-finals of the club World Cup.
The game, played in Charlotte, was anything but simple-a thunderstorm forced a suspension of almost two hours just a few minutes before full-time.
“I am very proud,” Maresca told Dazn. “The performance for me was top until the last five minutes when they stopped the game, and when we started again, it was completely a different game.” Despite the chaotic conditions and momentum shifts, Chelsea showed resilience and calmness in extra time at the top.
