Barcelona would be seven points clear of Real Madrid if they beat Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin, although their chances of doing so have taken a hit. Hansi Flick's team had taken the lead, but now took the lead again in the second half.
It was Robert Lewandowski who scored the opening goal after a beautifully flowing action by the visitors. However, Betis equalized in the 68th minute: they won a penalty after Frenkie de Jong fouled Vitor Roque in the area, and he was cleared by Giovani Lo Celso.
