FC Copenhagen make sensational transfer coup to sign Dortmund’s Moukoko

FC Copenhagen has signed the German striker Youssoufa Moukoko, who will join the club with immediate effect.

Moukoko, 20, joins the Danish champions of Borussia Dortmund for a five-year-old deal that runs until the summer of 2030. He is wearing the number 9 shirt with “Youssoufa” at the back.

Despite his young age, Moukoko played 99 first team matches for Dortmund and scored 18 goals, including several in the Bundesliga and Champions League. He also played two senior internationals for Germany and various youth internationals, where he was one of the top scorers at both U17 and U21 levels.

Sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen says:

“This is a very exciting transfer. Youssoufa is a player with a huge potential and already has a lot of experience at the highest level. He fits perfectly in the profile we are looking for – young, hungry and with a high technical level. We believe that he can take the next step in his career here in Copenhagen.”

“Youssoufa has had to deal with some of the best defenses in Europe and has shown that he can make a difference at that level. It is a transfer that will strengthen us both here and now – but also in the longer term.”

Head coach Jacob Neestrup looks forward to working with the German striker.

“Moukoko brings speed, technology and target scores potential for our attack. He comes with a will to win, a confident attitude that matches FC Copenhagen well. He has proven his level in the Bundesliga and European football,” says Neestrup.

“He is the type of striker that can do something himself. He is a dribbler, can combine in small spaces, finishes smartly and is dangerous in the box. He is also strong and aggressive in his urgent game. I am really looking forward to integrating it into our plans and getting the best out of his qualities.

Moukoko looks forward to starting a new chapter in his career.

“FC Copenhagen is a large club with large ambitions that match mine,” he says.

“We have had good conversations, and I am very happy to be here. I can feel that there is faith in me, and now I am just looking forward to getting started and giving everything on the field.”

“I played against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League in 2023, and it was a strong experience that made a big impression on me. The experience in parks was fantastic, and I could feel that it is a club with the Danish capital behind it.”

“I look forward to being part of it and showing what I'm standing in that beautiful white sweater.”
