Manchester United finds their pursuit of Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo more difficult who first thought and the Red Devils might have to start putting together a list of potential alternatives
Manchester United may have to think outside the box when it comes to their striving for Bryan Mbeumo. The Red Devils were determined to turn the Brentford star their second major takeover of the summer.
After signing Matheus Cunha, they saw the Cameroonian as the perfect signing for their right flank. The only problem is that Brentford has so far refused to play the ball.
The bees have already rejected two bids from United, with the latter being worth around £ 55 million plus £ 7.5 million. That was an increase in the £ 45 million plus up to £ 10 million in add-ons offering they had already submitted.
United boss Ruben Amorim was determined to have Mbeumo signed and sealed before the preseason, but as it looks now, it sees that unlikely. If he had a winger under his belt before that deadline, he could be forced to look somewhere else.
But what alternatives can United consider if they continue from Mbeumo? Mirror Football has five suggestions that can match the account.
While Mbeumo attracted the attention for Brentford last season, the same could certainly be said of his teammate Wissa. The Congolese attacker delivered 20 goals for the bees in all competitions last season.
And while he played more regularly as an out-and-out striker, Wissa has shown his versatility during his career. It is stationed on both flanks, as well as central.
Given their attitude towards Mbeumo, United Brentford might be able to find difficult customers again when it comes to their other star, but he should definitely be in their thinking.

Another striking executor in the Premier League previous term, Semenyo yielded 11 goals for a striking Bournemouth side, and noted six assists. And that understandably saw a number of clubs sitting upright and watch, with United, Spurs and Newcastle who were all thought as admirers.
Just like Wissa, the versatility of Semenyo could see him rocking to the top of the list for United, with the Ghanaese briefly skilled on both flanks. But Bournemouth's attitude can make a movement difficult.
Semenyo is under contract until 2029, while the cherries want to bank about £ 70 million if it applies this summer.
While Wissa and Semenyo enjoyed a stunning seasons, it could be argued that Crystal Palace Star Eze had the best of the couple. He scored 14 in all competitions – one of those strikes that the Eagles won the FA Cup – and achieved another 11 assists.
Of course he is more an attacking midfielder, but he has the skills to make a very effective winger for United. And Palace can make a decision soon.
Eze has left for two years to his contract in Selhurst Park, which means that they no longer have time to cash it in. United Look Set to Feature Competition of Arsenal if they strive for Eze.
Chelsea, a somewhat more realistic option, seems happy this summer to sell Nunku after a difficult few campaigns at Stamford Bridge. In the past two seasons, he has scored only 17 goals as a Chelsea player since a large money movement by RB Leipzig.
Again, his versatility might see him appear as a wise option, since he can play over the front line. United are long -term admirers of the attacker, so their interest can renew if the option occurs.
Okay, we are a bit cheating here, but desperate times ask for desperate measures. Sancho cannot be ignored, Sancho has passed a rotten spell at Old Trafford.
And the Red Devils are desperate to move it further. But if they want to save their money for an out-and-out center Vooruit, this may not be the worst idea in the world that Sancho integrates in the side.
There is talent there, as is apparent from his time with Borussia Dortmund – it is about getting it out of him.
