Luis Diaz edges away from Barcelona as Liverpool consider fresh offer

Barcelona is not expected to breathe new life into their persistent transfer interest in Liverpool star Luis Diaz next month.

La Blaugrana is working on bringing in a new attacker to strengthen Hansi Flick's options for the 2025/26 season.

However, there is only one objective in the sights of the club, and that focuses exclusively on athletic club attacker Nico Williams.

Barcelona is locked up in conversations with the Basque winger since the end of the 2024/25 campaign, but they still have to conclude an agreement with the 22-year-old.

The Catalan giants are willing to activate his release clause of £ 51 million in the Estadio San Mames, but negotiations have been affected by delays because of Barcelona fish for a structured payment plan.

Diaz had previously emerged on Flick's Radar as an option to get to the club with the Colombian who indicates that he would be open to the move.

Despite the concern of Liverpool that he will not sign a contract extension, the Premier League champions, however, have an elevated asking price for the former Porto attacker.

Liverpool was reportedly open to accepting a deal for around € 80-85 million on Diaz, but that was more than € 60 million ceiling.

With Liverpool Unmovied, Barcelona went to Williams and Arne Slot was now able to consider a new option for Diaz.

Liverpool still has to see sufficient progress from the Diaz camp compared to his renewal plans and they can still punish a summer sale.

The club hierarchy is determined to prevent a repeat of their 'contract chaos' earlier this year, because Mohamed Salah and Vigil van Dijk finally signed extensions for their falsified deals.

Liverpool will not allow that situation to take place again, and according to Diario Sport Al Nassr is aiming for a mammoth offer to lure him away from Merseyside in July.
