Official: 37-year-old Evans Retires & appointed head of loans and paths at Man Utd

Jonny Evans has been named head of loans and paths at Manchester United.

Evans, who is in the last phases of completing his UEFA A license, will lead to loans for the young players of United and collaborates closely with director of Voetbal, Jason Wilcox and the director of the Academy to further improve processes that maximize the development of individual players and prepare young talent to perform in the first team.

The transition from Evans to the role confirms the end of his illustrious play career. About his two stints in United, the Academy graduated made 241 performances and won the Champions League, Three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two competition cups.

In total, Evans 536 Senior performances appeared, while he served five clubs with his characteristic professionalism. At the international level, he earned 107 caps for Noord -Ireland and received a MBE for his football services in 2023.

Jonny Evans said: “I want to officially announce my retirement from my gaming career, not with sadness, but with pride, gratitude and excitement for the next chapter for the coming chapter. I will always owe the managers, coaches, employees and, of course, my teammates, that I have had the privilege to work in professional football in professional football.

“My biggest and sincere thanks must go to the fans who supported me during every step of the journey. It was an honor to be on the field and to feel your passion at home and away; I will be eternally grateful for every ounce of support.

“I am looking forward to working with the next generation of talented players to support them to achieve their potential. After I have had experience with loans, I know the crucial role they can play within the development of a player. I am delighted to further develop the path to our first team and to continue the inheritance of young players in Manchester.”
