Rashford faces awkward MU reunion next week after Aston Villa reject transfer

Marcus Rashford will not join Aston Villa permanently after the club had confirmed

Marcus Rashford is confronted with an unwanted return to Manchester United after Aston Villa has given the chance to sign him permanently.

United Striker Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan in Villa, where he scored four goals before injury brought a premature end to his campaign.

Villa had the option to sign the 27-year-old English star for £ 40 million at the end of his loan agreement, but chose not to practice that option.

Rashford is one of the five players released by Villa – so that the attacker is confronted with the prospect of a return to United and a reunion with Baas Ruben Amorim, with whom he fell last season.

Amorim dropped Rashford from United's Matchday Squad for their 2-1 win at local Rivals Manchester City last December and there was no way back for the striker, who was then shipped on loan.

But with Villa who chooses not to have the chance to sign Rashford and without other clubs made an offer near the £ 40 million of United £ 40 million or even a loan proposal, he is ready to return to his boys' club.

United returns for training for the season on Monday, although, as always the case, it will be a spread return for the team, which means that Rashford might only start later next week.

But if the representatives of Rashford and United cannot find him a new home or a club that is at least willing to bring him into loan next season, then he will have no option to return to training under Amorim, in whose future plans he is not.

In addition to Rashford, Marco Asensio and Axel Disasi spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa and return to their parent clubs, PSG and Chelsea respectively.

Villa also confirmed that goalkeeper Robin Olsen and defender Kourtney Hause left as free agents, after the expiry of their contracts.
