MU legend confirms retirement before announcing new role as part of shake-up

Manchester United has used to a former player to take on the role of head of loans and paths.

United has fallen short in recent years compared to rivals when it comes to finding a good house for their young players who are sent on loan.

With the hunt for a new Academy director, as well as the manager of the Under-18, United has now filled what they see as a key role.

When taking the role, former United Center Jonny Evans officially confirmed his retirement of professional football.

“I want to officially announce my retirement of my gaming career, not with sadness, but with pride, gratitude and excitement for the next chapter,” Evans said.

'I will be due to the managers, coaches, employees and, of course, my teammates, that I have had the privilege of working together during my 20 years in professional football.

'My biggest and sincere thanks must go to the fans who supported me during every step of the journey. It was an honor to be on the field and to feel your passion at home and away; I will be eternally grateful for every ounce of support. '

Evans, who made 536 senior performances during his career, is located in the last phases of completing his UEFA A license while taking control of the loan department.

“I'm looking forward to working with the next generation of talented players to support them to reach their potential,” he said.

'After I have had experience with loans, I know the crucial role they can play within the development of a player.

“I am pleased to help to further develop the path to our first team and to continue the legacy of young players who flourish to Manchester United.”

Director of Voetbal Jason Wilcox added: 'After he has just completed his exceptional gaming career, Jonny is the perfect role model for our young players.

“Jonny's knowledge of what is needed to succeed at Manchester United will be a big advantage for each of them, while we will continue to develop a world -class talent that can occur in our first team.”
