‘I never like’… Dustin Poirier’s former rival reveals what concerns him about UFC 318 retirement fight vs Max Holloway

Dustin Poirier will make a final dance for a final dance in a few weeks.

UFC 318 sees the Octagon making its long -awaited return to Louisiana, where for most fans all revolves around the main event in which 'The Diamond' will compete for the last time.

The BMF title and other awards can be at stake for Poirier when he takes Max Holloway for the third time, but he has made it clear that this is the curtain call.

Dana White and the UFC have drawn this event together for Poirier, who has become one of the beloved hunters on the Roster in recent years.

In anticipation of July 19, a former rival of the retreating legend expressed one reason for concern that he has when viewing this matchup.

Eddie Alvarez calls for concern about Dustin Poirier and announces that UFC 318 will be his pension fight

Max Holloway is the perfect last opponent for Dustin Poirier in various ways to cope.

'Blessed' is not only a colleague legend of the sport, the two men are known for connecting incredible fights with their second meeting at UFC 236 who offers an immediate classic.

Eddie Alvarez, however, has a number of worries for this fight, and they are not due to the man who encounters Poirier's Octagon.

Alvarez shared the cage twice with 'The Diamond', first in 2017, where their fight ended in a NO match before they met the following year in a heated Rematch, where Poirier came at the top.

In an interview with MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn, the former UFC Lightweight Champion said that he is never optimistic about fighters who announce that they retire before they take the walk.

He stated that even athletes who continue to push themselves into the gym can suffer from the fact that they are not all in the way their opponents will be.

“When you say:” I'm ready, “right? Then you are already ready. There is a small little thing in your head where you are checked out. Even if you have trained very hard and you use your best camp and that is a sport where you have looked at everything in mentally, physical, emotional, the guy, if I have watched. Time that guy does not win.”

Eddie Alvarez now has other priorities out of fighting, but does not exclude BKFC

After leaving the UFC in 2018 after his rematch with Dustin Poirier, Eddie Alvarez fought several times in one 2019-2021 championship.

Although he has not participated in MMA since then, the former UFC Lightweight Champion has made the switch to Bare Knuckle, where he fought three times for BKFC.

His last performance was in January earlier this year, where he was stopped by Jeremy Stephens.

Alvarez told Mike Bohn that although he is currently fighting companies outside, he still loves BKFC and does not exclude a return.

“I am a bit open to anything else … you never know. They call me, who knows what is going on, but for now I have a good time with the gym.”
