Arsenal concludes an agreement to land Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon, while Mikel Arteta is also looking for Monaco for another signature of the summer
Arsenal is close to reaching a verbal agreement to land Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon who could take out their Spits search assignment – but Mikel Arteta is already looking at his next arrival.
The Gunners have been relatively quiet this summer without newcomers at the Emirates, but they have eliminated in the background and can get different signing sessions. Gyokeres is tipped to continue after a fantastic year with Sporting, where he scored more than 50 times.
The priority of Arteta this summer is to add a new No. 9 and after negotiations with Benjamin Sesko, the Premier League club has reached a roadblock, the attention of the productive Swede has derived.
According to L'Equipe, they are now close to reaching a verbal agreement with Gyoke's agent Hasan Cetinkaya. That would let them negotiate a fee with sport.
In addition, the North Londers look at Monaco's attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche. He is also on the radar of both Manchester clubs, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. His club resigned when losing the French U21 star. They appreciate him at about £ 60 million after he enjoyed an impressive year previous term in Ligue 1, where he was a fixed value.
Monaco chef Thiago Scuro has said earlier with his possible exit: “We have expectations for him. I think players at his level, not so many clubs can sign him. To go or stay, both options can be good for him.”
It would also strengthen an arsenal -attacking line that, when fit, now has real depth. But last season a series of injuries exposed the side of Arteta and this summer he wants to make additions that ensure that they no longer be missing. Gyokees and Akliouche would compliment the will of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
Sporting's attitude has frustrated Gyokeres this summer because they denied that there was once a men's agreement to make him leave for less than his release clause.
Club president Frederico Varandas recently said: “Sport is calm about this issue. Secondly, Sport does not have to sell Viktor Gyokeres. Fortunately we are beyond the sale of our main active.
“However, we remain sensitive to the dreams of Viktor or that of another athlete. Sport has made a commitment that after weeks of meetings we will not demand the full amount of the clause; we will be reasonable with regard to the requested amount for Viktor.”
