Diogo Jota, who died tragically at the age of 28, spent time with Atlético during the 2016–17 season after signing Paços de Ferreira. Although he did not make a competitive appearance for the club, he was lent to FC Porto, where he made an impression before he continued to Wolverhampton Wanderers and later Liverpool.
The club's message contributes to the outpouring of sorrow from the entire football community, with teammates, clubs and fans who pay tribute to the Portuguese international and his younger brother.
