Jota death to be marked by minute’s silence at clash between Spain and Portugal

A minute of silence will be observed during the ladies Euro 2025 match between Portugal and Spain on Thursday after the death of the Portuguese national team of men in a car accident, UEFA said.

“UEFA announces that a moment of silence will be observed at all UEFA -Dames Euro 2025 matches of today and tomorrow in memory of Portugal International and Liverpool FC for Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who died tragically today,” said the administrative body on Thursday morning.

The Portuguese football club said on Thursday morning in a statement that they had asked for a minute of silence before the game.

The two parties will meet each other in Bern at 21:00 CET in their first group B game.
