Merab Dvalishvili has been warned that he will meet his match in the Cardio department if he will get his desired next opponent.
Dvalishvili continued his indictment in the direction of the legendary status on the UFC 316 Pay-per-View in early June, where he extended his count of successful title defenses to two.
In the main event, Dvalishvili Sean O'Malley had to make it to make it two victories in his last three fights. They were divided by the first defense of the Georgian, who was against Umar Nurmagomedov last January.
With that 'The Machine' runs on a win with 12-fog on 135 pounds and is tipped on a large scale to continue its dominance on the way to securing most defenses in the history of UFC Bantamweight.
His expected next challenger, however, is of the opinion that he has all the tools to prevent that happening.
Cory Sandhagen keeps full
Shortly after the triumph of Dvalishvili in Newark last month, the Focus turned to its likely next assignment to ex-interim title Challenger Cory Sandhagen.
Sandhagen defeated DEIVESON Figueiredo, a former two -time flying weight Kingpin, in the main event of UFC des Moines in May to set up his claim.
'The Sandman' is known for its striking and will not be surprising a huge underdog against Dvalishvili. But while he spoke with MMA during the International Vechtweek in Las Vegas, the top candidate explained what separates him from the former rivals of the champion.
“I am really excited. I finally get my chance to actually have the opportunity to prove that I am the best in the world,” said Sandhagen.
“I am not going to buy in the story that Merab is this unbeatable thing. I don't think he is. I think I also have one of the best conditioning, so he will not be able to make me tired as he could be with the other boys.
“I'm going outside and I'm going to deal with Merab with me, not the other way around,” Sandhagen added. “I'm just not O'Malley. You are not going to take me down and hold. I am not a Umar, where I get tired in round four and five.
“I will be there the entire five rounds, I will be able to struggle with you, and then you will have a lot of striking. That is not fun for Merab, because it can sometimes become a bit sloppy.”
Cory Sandhagen gave a simple explanation about how to beat Merab Dvalishvili
Just after the second successful title defense of Dvalishvili, Joe Rogan asked the broadcast how the Bantamweight King could possibly be defeated in his current form.
Backstage in Prudential Center, Sandhagen gave a simple answer to Rogan's question in an interview with ESPN – by spreading him.
“Merab did a great job. I expected Merab to look better in this fight,” said Sandhagen.
“Merab is the best man in the division, maybe one of the best guys in the UFC. I want to get that guy out.
“You have to beat that guy,” Sandhagen added when asked how you can stop 'the machine' that is Dvalishvili. “That's it, you just have to disable that guy.”
