BBC: Takehiro Tomiyasu Set to Leave Arsenal After Contract Termination Agreement

Arsenal Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is reportedly set to leave the club after reaching a mutual agreement to end his contract, according to journalist Sami Mokbel.

The Japanese International, 26, continues his recovery of the knee operation and is expected to be sidelined for another five months. Tomiyasu played only six minutes of football last season after a serious knee injury that required surgery in February, after an earlier knee problem in 2023.

His current deal at the Emirates Stadium would run until the end of next season, but Arsenal and the player reportedly arranged an early termination of the contract.

Tomiyasu joined Arsenal from Bologna in 2021 and made 79 performances for the Gunners. Despite his promising start in North Londs, persistent injury problems have limited its impact in the past two seasons.

Arsenal is now investigating defensive reinforcements prior to the new campaign. Valencia Center-Back Crithian Mosquera is one of the linked names, while Kieran Tierney has already completed a switch to Celtic. There are also doubts about Oleksandr Zinchenko's future with the club before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September.

The next destination of Tomiyasu remains uncertain while he focuses on returning to full fitness.
