The Nico Williams Saga continues without signs of a clear final in sight. Barcelona has made it clear to their intentions that they want to sign him and that they can pay his release clause of € 58 million. Williams and his agent Felix Tainta, however, want guarantees that he will be registered to play, something that Barcelona cannot offer at the moment because they are their salary limit.
The Blaugrana are convinced that this will be the case in the near future, if their VIP chairs of € 100 million will be approved by their auditors, and with the outputs of one or two more players, namely Andreas Christensen. Frenkie de Jong's new contract is also considered an important shift. Nevertheless, both Cadena SER and MD report that Barcelona has refused to include a Get-Out clause in his contract if Williams is not registered.
The latter reports that Williams and his family are ready to make a decision about his future, after he assumed that there will be no get-out clause in his contract. The Blaugrana only pays its release clause if they reach a complete agreement with Williams, and that requires a leap of trust from the 22-year-old that Barcelona will do their homework this summer.
The Williams family, after lobbying Nico to stay last summer, has now assumed that Nico would like to make the switch to Barcelona, according to Sport.
The same outlet notes that Barcelona remains convinced that he has done the deal, and that Williams will give the green light. And in essence that will all work well, with Barcelona who can register Williams. This is directly in contradiction with yesterday's head, that Barcelona is starting to lose confidence in the signing, the feeling that an agreement may not be reached.
