Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim could be tempted to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window after seeing his side concede in the opening minute against Nottingham Forest.
United had included Leny Yoro in defense in the summer for the first time this season, but that didn't stop Nicola Milenkovic from burying a header and giving Amorim's side a nightmare start.
The Red Devils recovered when Rasmus Hojlund leveled for United 18 minutes later, but Morgan Gibbs-White stunned Amorim's side with a goal in the opening moments of the second half. The new coach will now be keen to add new recruits to take them to the next level after a difficult start to the season.
Mirror Football has rounded up some of the biggest Manchester United transfer stories from the last 24 hours.
Van Nistelrooy watches the Man Utd raid
Ruud van Nistelrooy has only just left Old Trafford after his short but successful spell as interim boss, but he is already planning to take a number of players with him to Leicester after taking over at King Power.
The Dutchman made it three wins and a draw after temporarily replacing the sacked Erik ten Hag in October, but United opted to bring in Amorim from Sporting Lisbon as their next permanent boss.
Van Nistelrooy decided to return to work straight away after Leicester suspended Steve Cooper, starting with a 3–1 win over West Ham. According to The Sun, he is now reportedly looking to sign United youth star Toby Collyer on loan.
The ex-United striker, who said he was “hurt” by his departure from Old Trafford, said he had already held talks with Leicester chiefs over the January signings.
However, Leicester have already reached the limit of two domestic loans, so Facundo Buonanotte and Odsonne Edouard's deal would have to be canceled if Collyer were to come in.
American teenager starts training with United
American wonderkid Nimfasha Berchimas will reportedly train with Manchester United next week ahead of a possible move.
The 16-year-old made his MLS debut for Charlotte FC earlier this year, becoming one of the youngest players in the American top flight.
Berchimas is now one of the most sought-after young talents in European football and United have invited him to train at Old Trafford, according to Give Me Sport.
United's youth leaders will assess him before potentially making an offer to sign him. Jason Wilcox, the club's technical director, is keen to identify the next wave of academy talent.
So far, Berchimas has made three appearances for Charlotte FC's senior side, having already scored six from 21 appearances for their reserve team.
Ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Fati said he could leave Barcelona
Ansu Fati was once considered the most highly rated footballer, but his future now looks uncertain as he prepares to leave Barcelona.
The winger was once pursued by Manchester United in 2020, with reports claiming the Red Devils had made a bid worth £83 million for the player. However, a move never materialized as Barcelona tried to hold on to their prized asset.
Fati failed to discover his potential over the next few years as his playing time at Camp Nou dwindled, eventually joining Brighton on loan last year.
Now Barcelona are reportedly willing to let Fati leave in January, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, with boss Hansi Flick said to have told the player and Eric Garcia that they are no longer needed.
The report says neither player has considered plans to join a new club but would be willing to explore options next summer if their playing time does not improve.
