Tomiyasu leaves Arsenal after contract mutually terminated

Takehiro Tomiyasu and Arsenal have mutually agreed to end his contract, whereby the Japanese international continues to recover from a long -term knee injury.

The defender, who made 84 performances for the Gunners after signing Bologna in 2021, had a year left to his contract, with the option to add another year.

However, he was limited to only six minutes of action last season and is not expected to play until later this year because of his injuries.

An Arsenal statement was: “Unfortunately, Tomi's time on the field in the past two seasons have limited injuries, whereby the defender made only one replacement appearance last season. It was therefore agreed to end Tomi's contract to start a new chapter in his career.”
