Philippe Coutinho finally brings an end to horror spell at Aston Villa

Aston Villa has confirmed that Philippe Coutinho has now permanently joined Vasco da Gama.

The former Superstar of Liverpool on loan last season with the Brazilian top flight side where he started his football trip as a child.

The 33-year-old managed five goals and three assists in 26 performances for Vasco in all competitions when they finished 13th in the Serie A.

He will now continue to wear the black and white and put an end to a villa career that has never really been started.

“Aston Villa can confirm that Philippe Coutinho completed a permanent move to Vasco da Gama,” the club wrote on X.

“Everyone at Aston Villa wants to thank Philippe for his service to the club and wish him the very best in his future career.”

Coutinho, who came to Barcelona in 2018 for an amazing £ 145 million, has difficulty finding a long-term house since leaving the Nou-Kamp, for the first time with Bayern Munich and Aston Villa on loan before he signed for the Premier League outfit in 2022.

The 33-year-old contributed five goals and three assists during his six-month loan spell in Villa Park.

However, he managed only one goal in 22 games in his first full campaign before he came to Saudi-Arabic Outfit Al-Duil for the 2023-24 season.

Coutinho came through the youth academy of Vasco da Gama before he was explored in 2008 by Serie A Giants Inter Milan.

He impressed the San Siro as a young person prior to signing Liverpool in 2013, where he spent five more years before he moved to Barcelona in another of the most expensive transfers of all time.

During his time in Anfield, Coutinho made 152 performances for the Reds and yielded 41 goals.

Liverpool enabled his selling costs to sign a handful of important players under Jurgen Klopp, including Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
