Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said on Friday that his team will continue to adjust and improve to pursue future success and if they didn't do this, they would be “dead”.
The European champions will be confronted on Saturday with the German Giants Bayern Munich in the quarter -finals of the club World Cup in Atlanta and the Spanish coach said they will not continue to trust the same system.
PSG played an entertaining attacking style with three attackers on their way to Champions League Glory, but Luis Enrique said one day he would vary.
“We will change it because teams adapt – there is nothing magical in football,” Luis Enrique told reporters.
“When you overcome the press, your opponent adjusts when you make superiority in an area, your opponent adjusts, there is no magical formula.
“There is no coach who has a system or movement, and that is it, that is the difficulty of modern football, all coaches are prepared, all players are physically and technically better than ever.”
“So you adapt, you improvise and you become unpredictable for your opponent, or you're dead.”
Luis Enrique said that playing in the same way as PSG led to a first Treble this season would not suffice to get ahead.
“It's not enough to do what we have done in the next season last season, we have to change, we have to improve things,” added Luis Enrique.
Bayern Munich defeated PSG 1-0 in November in the Champions League group phase, before the French side found their pass and triumphed for the first time in the competition.
“We have a little revenge to take, we know they are a tough team, but we are much stronger than in November,” said Ousmane Dembele, who was sent in Munich.
“A lot has changed – the players have clearly increased their level, I have also increased my level and we have a lot of confidence. We know what to do on the field, we can beat every team.”
The 28-year-old is a leading balloon d'Or participant after an excellent campaign, although so far he has only made a short cameo as a replacement in the club World Cup.
Dembele sustained a quadriceps injury at the beginning of June during the Nations League and rose in PSG's 4-0 romp against Lionel Messi's Inter Miami.
The attacker said that he now fits “100 percent”, but it is up to Luis Enrique if he starts Bayern in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
“It's not the time to give information to my opponent – we'll see tomorrow,” said Luis Enrique.
