In recent weeks there has been plenty of speculation about the future of Malaga sensation Antonio Cordero. The 18-year-old winger, who has scored three goals and three assists in just seven starts this season, has been linked with several major European clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid and Arsenal.
Cordero, who is very highly regarded throughout Spain, is out of contract at the end of the season and it is almost certain that he will not renew. This would make him an excellent market opportunity, and it is one that Barcelona in particular will want to take advantage of.
According to Relevo, the Catalans are currently favorites to sign Cordero if he becomes a free agent, although they currently face competition from Ajax, who have spoken to the teenager's representatives in recent weeks.
Given that he operates as a left winger, Cordero could be an excellent cheap signing that Barcelona can gradually integrate into the first team. It is a position that the club will want to address next summer, although they will want to do so with a major signing (such as Rafael Leao).
