Barcelona received a surprising blow to the transfer market on Friday, because Athletic Club announced a 10-year contract for Nico Williams, their primary target on the transfer market. It means that the Blaugrana has again focused their attention on Luis Diaz in Liverpool, with Manchester United Marcus Rashford an alternative.
During the weekend it was revealed that Barcelona had again had contact with the agents of Rashford, with his chances of signing for the Blaugrana that increases exponentially after the decision of Williams. MD says that the conversations have also been intensified with Diaz in recent days, and Barcelona will focus it before they go to Rashford.
The Catalan giants have been informed that Diaz will request a transfer from Liverpool, while he is going to move to Camp Nou. Diaz has previously told the media that his agents are in conversation with the club, and that his future was open, and his representatives also tell Barcelona that Liverpool needs the sale to compensate for the costs of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Mikos Kerkez.
There is also a key factor to consider – the Catalan daily says that Diaz will not make contract provisions with regard to his registration. That was where a deal got stuck for Williams, and it would not be a problem with Diaz, who prioritizes a move to Barcelona. In any case, however, no movement will be made for Diaz to give Liverpool the time to assimilate the tragic transmission of Diogo Jota.
Even if Diaz does not ask for guarantees, Barcelona has to move for him with the intention of registering at La Liga, something that it seems unlikely that they can do without outputs. So far, Liverpool has demanded € 80-85 million and rejected an approach from Barcelona.
