One of the UFC Nashville stars delivered a 2020 finish that might have made Conor McGregor smiles.
The leader of the mixed martial arts will be back in 'Music City' next weekend to organize the only UFC fighting evening between the UFC 317 and UFC 318 pay-per-views.
Before Dustin Poirier retires on July 19 at UFC 318, all eyes will be aimed at returning the leader of the promotion of all time in Knockouts, as Derrick Lewis wants to add to his count of brutal finishes in Nashville.
But 'The Black Beast' will not be the only hunter who goes to the cage who has an impressive reel of devastating stopping, and one in particular of Calvin Kattar will match the best of them.
Calvin Kattar crashed Jeremy Stephens with devastating elbows in 2020 knock -out
Among those who form the stage for Lewis's main event against Tallison Teixeira at the UFC Nashville Card of Saturday will be Veteraan Calvin Kattar.
Although he got the nickname 'The Boston Finisher', the 37-year-old did not record a finish in his last seven fights. Kattar will look to put an end to that five -year drought against Steve Garcia by returning to the kind of violent ways that brutally stopped him brutally.
Kattar's last stop victory came to UFC 249 in May 2020, where he came to Francis Ngannou and Justin Gaethje when making a splash in the return of the promotion during the pandemic.
Halfway through the round two plain Kattar Stephens off with a perfectly timed elbow. Kattar stood on a dazed 'Lil Heathen' and opened his rival with another elbow on the floor before referee Jason Herzog entered.
The devastating finish undoubtedly ensured a good representation in the McGregor household. The Irishman had a hilarious back and forth with Stephens at a UFC press conference in 2016.
Conor McGregor called Jeremy Stephens as one of the three potential BKFC opponents
Before a surprise from UFC returns to compete for his home fans in Des Moines last May, Stephens thought success in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
After overcoming Jimmie Rivera and Bobby Taylor, 'Lil Heathen' moved to 3-0 in the rising promotion by force a corner stop against former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez last January.
That version apparently attracted the eye of the BKFC-MEDE owner, as McGregor Stephens mentioned as one of the three opponents he could experience if he fights in bare knuckle along the line.
“There are many periods, showcase attacks. You could say Mike Perry. You could say Jeremy Stephens. You could say a rematch to Eddie Alvarez. You could say many competitions.
“But the lightweight title, who is now the champion? Lightweight, good weight, let's look. I am open. We will see when it will come.”
