Atletico Madrid -midfielder Rodrigo de Paul is considering an offer to leave the club this summer. While he goes of his deal in the last year, Los Rojiblancos wants to discharge the Argentina -International.
On 24 June Football España exclusively reported that Inter Miami had opened conversations with the Paul camp, in an attempt to convince him to join Friend and international teammate Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer. The 31-year-old was ready to continue his career in Europe, but it seems that he is now considering moving to the US, according to Marca.
Contract discussions between the Paul and Atletico have taken a dead end, and it seems that there is no chance of a new deal for him. That is why Los Colchoneros would like to move him further before he loses it for free. Atletico rejected an offer of € 25 million from West Ham United in January and had set their asking price around that figure this summer.
Los Rojiblancos, however, would be open with little interest in that price, to let him go for the € 15 million that Inter Miami offers.
While the club sees its sales as a financial necessity, manager Diego Simeone would like to stick to the Paul. He is aware of the difficult circumstances, but is also aware that Atletico would bring in the sale of the Paul for the money, will not find a player of similar quality on the transfer market.
There is little in the way of a good answer for Atletico and Simeone. Financially the decision is a no-brainer for Atletico, but there is little doubt on the field that his loss would weaken them. It can be good whether Simeone Atletico can convince that the Paul could be the difference between progression to the last phases in the Champions League or win a trophy.
