Kylian Mbappé has decided to end his criminal complaint for moral intimidation and attempted extortion against PSG, a case in which he claimed € 55 million (about $ 59 million) – only a few hours after he was confronted with his former club in the World Cup club. According to L'équipe, he still pursues his business after the Labor Tribunal.
Why does Mbappé change his PSG complaint?
This aspect of the legal dispute between the player and the Paris club had almost made their relationship unbearable. Mbappé insists that he has reached an agreement to leave PSG without receiving compensation, something that the club consistently refused.
The case – with € 55 million ($ 59 million) – will remain in the hands of the courts and will probably be decided by the Conseil de Prud'hommes, the French Labor Court, which will rule for one side. In April, Mbappé and his legal team announced that they would pursue all possible legal, civil and criminal Avenue to try to win the case, which dates from last year, when PSG reportedly did not pay bonuses and wages of a total of € 55 million.
Only a month ago, the Paris Criminal Court lifted a provisional seizure order on PSGs accounts, which was requested by Mbappé's lawyers. The court argued that it was not competent to enforce such a sanction, and that another judicial body should handle the case. The complaint that the player withdrew this Monday is independent of other continuous legal actions against his former club.
In recent months, the two parties have repeatedly confronted the court on the unpaid amount, which has fueled the current tensions since the departure of Mbappé to Madrid. The French competition and various sporting justice bodies in the country have turned in turn colored with one party or the other, depending on the professions submitted. The case seemed to be on a standstill- but with this step, reported by L'équipe, the friction between player and club seems to have cooled down somewhat.
