Pumas Unam forms for what could be one of the most exciting transfer windows in its history. The headline-grabbering arrival of Aaron Ramsey, former Arsenal and Juventus star, is just the beginning. The Welsh International drew a one -year -old deal after leaving Cardiff City, and made history as one of the first controversial British players who join Liga MX.
With Alex Padilla who returned to Athletic Club, after the Basque club had activated a back-back clause, Pumas actively explores the replacements of top class. According to transfer expert César Luis Merlo, the club looks at two high-caliber keepers to fill the emptiness that was left behind by the departure of Padilla.
Keylor Navas, Pumas preferred choice
Pumas officially reached the Keylor Navas camp and started early negotiations to bring the legendary Costa Rican goalkeeper to Liga MX. The move would be a blockbuster follow-up for the recent signing of Ramsey. However, there is a big obstacle … Navas is under contract with the old boys from Newell until December 2026, and the Argentinian club is not going to make him easy.
At this point the ball is in the court of Navas. According to reports, Pumas expects a reaction from the player within the coming hours. If Navas signals interest, the club can continue with a formal offer – but without a release clause in its contract, each deal would require the full cooperation of Newell and that seems unlikely.
Ospina a possibility
In the meantime, David Ospina has emerged as a strong alternative. The 36-year-old Colombian keeper may have a head start on Navas-not alone because he is two years younger, but because of his earlier connection with Pumas head coach Ephraín Juárez, who managed him in Atlético Nacional. Add his former Arsenal teammate Aaron Ramsey, and you have a compelling business for chemistry both on and outside the field.
Ospina is currently under contract with Atlético Nacional until mid -2026, but his situation is said to be more flexible. He has already shown interest in the weather in international competition and his transfer value is considered manageable for PUMAs.
According to several reports, Colombian left back Álvaro Angulo is about to join Pumas. The deal, which entails an exchange with Ignacio Pussetto and a cash component of around $ 800,000, is almost completed. Angulo, who previously collaborated with head coach Ephraín Juárez in Atlético Nacional, is expected to arrive in Mexico City this week to complete the move.
