From one unorthodox style to another, Tony Ferguson has a strong respect for a certain UFC prospect.
It is safe to say that not much matches the term 'unique', just like Ferguson, a former interim-FUC light weight champion who settled as a leading fan favorite during a 13-year-old Stint in the leading promotion of MMA.
With his eyebrow -raised approach to training and attacks in mind, 'El Cucuy' has extra appreciation for others who bring different looks to the cage that are far from the norm.
And the experienced lightweight saw such a hunter in Abu Dhabi in August 2024, when Ferguson last in UFC moisture.
Tony Ferguson respects Shara 'Bullet' Magomedov
Red Corner MMA recently uploaded a clip by Ferguson who spoke strongly about the middleweight Prospect Shara Magomedov.
The one-eyed 'bullet' made a splash by winning his first four UFC fights to move to 15-0 in MMA. His unique striking style was completely visible in his last victory in October 2024, when Magomedov used a double rotating backfist to eliminate arms Petrosyan.
'El Cucuy' was apparently among those who have taken note of the fast start of the Russian in the UFC, especially after sharing his last UFC card with him in Abu Dhabi 13 months ago.
“Oh, he's great,” Ferguson said. “When I was in Dubai, we had the same corner.
“I met Shara when I was in the background to get ready. When I hit, he thought,” You look good. ” I had something like: “Yes, I know.”
“He saw me, he knows how I move and I know how he moves,” added Ferguson. “So it's a good respect, if you have people (who) can go to the cage and show you something, but it's different.
“People know when they know, when they see different types of movement. And I have different respect for Shara. He is good, a Freestyle -Type hunter, which is really loose, is able to change positions, able to move.
“If you have that free power, it looks good.”
For another reason, Ferguson can also have a rating for Magomedov. 'Bullet' was in particular from the famous MMA Gym of Khabib Nurmagomedov in the early days of his career after he refused to cut his hair.
The Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson Saga
The heavyweight title fight of Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall is now one of the fights stuck in the imaginative, but there is little debate about which failed matchup is high above those and others as the most frustrating.
A match between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov is generally seen as the most desired fight that has never reached the cage. They were planned to fight each other on five different occasions, and yet fans were never treated to a confrontation in the Octagon.
A large number of injuries and health problems saw bookings at the Ultimate Fighter 22 final, UFC on Fox 19, UFC 209 and UFC 223 all through.
The promotion made a final attempt to set up the dream match at UFC 249 in 2020, but after restrictions in the Pandemie, the fight forever forced forever after Justin Gaethje had ended the winning series of Ferguson.
The then interim champion shared the Octagon with the Dagestani itself at UFC 254 in Abu Dhabi. And after Nurmagomedov defended the lightweight gold for the third time against 'the peak', he announced his retirement.
