Kota was born in Yokohama and went through the ranks in Kawasaki Frontale and earned his first team debut just 17 years old in April 2022, who came to the AFC Champions League in an 8-0 win over Guangzhou.
The 20-year-old soon became a fixture on the higher side, making 21 performances the next campaign, including four trips in the team's run to lift the 2023 Japanese Cup (Emperor's Cup).
Kota, an impressive figure at the back, continued to impress and helped the Azzurro Nero to the Japanese Super Cup 2024. Later that year he earned recognition for his performances and claimed the best Young Player Award from the J. League.
During his time at Kawasaki Frontale, he made a total of 81 senior performances in all competitions, scored four times and helped his team previous term to the final of the AFC Champions League 2025.
On the international stage, Kota included Japan in several age groups and helped his country in 2024 to glory at the AFC Under-23 Asian Cup. He also represented his country at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and reached the quarterfinals of the tournament.
In September 2024 he earned his senior debut in a World Cup qualification file against China and earned four caps for his country so far.
