Real Madrid will resume their transfer activities as soon as their involvement in the Club World Cup will end this week after the semi-final on Wednesday against Paris Saint-Germain, or the final this weekend when they beat the European champions.
A deal for Benfica left back Alvaro Carreras will be resumed, and one or two signing sessions can be made for the 2025-26 season that starts in August. Moreover, there will almost certainly be departure.
Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez leave after the expiry of their contracts, but outside of it a number of other candidates in the Xabi Alonso team have been identified. Rodrygo will and Endrick Felipe will be confronted with uncertain future, while Clubworldbeker hero Gonzalo Garcia could also leave.
Gonzalo was expected to leave Real Madrid, but after his exploits in the United States there are now chances for him to stay in Santiago Bernabeu. However, the club could still decide to cash in due to a growing interest in its services, with Chelsea being one of that enthusiastic about a move.
But it was unveiled by Getafe President Angel Torres (via MD) that the 21-year-old would only go to the Coliseum if he left Real Madrid this summer. He also confirmed that another Los Blancos star in Victor Munoz could also make the move.
“We have an agreement with Gonzalo. There was an obligation that as long as he did not stay in Real Madrid, he could come. This is an agreement from a month and a half ago with both the club and the agent. I have hope, when Gonzalito comes, it is a good help.
It would be a loan movement for Gonzalo if he joined Getafe, but that may not be very favorable for Real Madrid. It would be no surprise to see him in Alonso's team for the 2025-26 season, given how impressive he has been at the club World Cup.
