Sir Alex Ferguson’s verdict on Vardy resurfaces as Man Utd offered free transfer

Former Leicester and England star Jamie Vardy is one of a number of stars linked to a shock movement to Manchester United this summer and the thoughts of Alex Ferguson about the striker are clear

Sir Alex Ferguson once praised the goals of Jamie Vardy, with Manchester United thinking about a fresh movement for the attacker. The former striker of England is available this summer after his exit from Leicester City.

Vardy left the King Power Stadium after the relegation of the Midland Club to the championship. Since then, reports has suggested that United was offered Vardy's services while they want to add a new striker to their team.

Given that he will be 39 next season, a movement for Vardy will only happen to the end of the window if they lose their priority goals. But it seems that the legendary former manager Ferguson would be a big fan of a deal that Vardy has greeted in the past.

Speaking in 2015 in the middle of Leicester's title costs, he said: “He (Vardy) is aggressive, he is fast, he has energy and he has a goal in him. He has proven that.

“He has assets suitable for contemporary football, especially in a club like Leicester City. Our Darren (his son) wanted to sign him in Peterborough, but Leicester came in. Vardy is a great example of never admitting and a great belief in himself.”

Vardy can then be scored 145 Premier League goals in 342 performances. And although a move to Old Trafford looks unlikely at this stage, another legendary former Red Devil is also a big fan.

Ruud van Nistelrooy – who has passed a disastrous enchanting in the midlands for his looting – regularly greeted Vardy and his skills. Speaking in May, the Dutchman said: “If you see the number of times that a player performs at the highest level, that is the greatest achievement for me.

“When you can occur in 13 seasons at this level, a maximum of 500 games come, 200 goals come up, that says it all, in your way of thinking and norms that you set yourself, how you lead your life around football and how you perform.

“Then you look at the trophies he has won, including the individual performance. It is the total package of one of the largest.”

Vardy is not the only free agent offered United in the midst of their search for a new attacker this summer. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Callum Wilson have also emerged as options for the Red Devils after their outputs of Everton and Newcastle respectively.

In the meantime, Ollie Watkins is also on the shortlist of United, but Aston Villa is expected to require around £ 60 million for the attacker.
