Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon are locked up in conversations about a deal for Viktor Gyokees, but it has now been claimed that the Gunners are preparing for walking away
Arsenal is close to 'giving up' a deal for Viktor Gyokeres, after he still has not reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon on a financial package for the sought -after striker.
The Gunners are locked up in conversations with Sporting about a deal for Gyokees, 27, after the Swede has made their primary striker target. But a delegation led by Andrea Berta, the new sports director of the club, was unable to have a deal with sport during face-to-face conversations in Portugal recently.
Gyokeres was told that he did not have to return to training for the season on Monday, alongside many of his teammates, while the club watched a deal. He was told that he could stay away until Friday, with the expectation that the two clubs would get a deal and that he would not have to participate – made it clear that he wants to leave.
Speculation about the status of the deal has been widespread in recent days, with sport demanding a guaranteed £ 69 million for their No. 9 – with the vast majority in advance. Portuguese Outlet Abola now claims that Arsenal is about to give up a deal after they have no contact with exercise to continue the negotiations.
That comes after 'intense' conversations at the weekend between the two clubs. However, those discussions did not yield an agreement, whereby the report claimed that the deal is now almost collapsing.
It is understood that Arsenal and Sporting have difficulty in agreeing the composition of the transfer costs for the Stillaway Swede. But sporty wants a total of £ 69 million, with £ 60 million in advance and the remaining £ 9 million in add-ons.
So far, Arsenal wants to precede £ 56 million, £ 4.5 million in add-ons and then the remaining £ 8.5 million in performance-related payments. So it's not all guaranteed money. As such there is a stalemate.
The player has already indicated that he will not return tomorrow to the training for the season while trying to push a dream movement to the Premier League.
Mirror Football previously outlined that Gyokeres and Arsenal have already agreed on a five -year contract worth £ 200,000 per week.

News that the deal could now break down will come a big blow to Mikel Arteta, whose side is a quality no. 9 fog. It is still to be seen whether conversations will continue after a break in negotiations or whether Arsenal will continue to other goals.
The Gunners are also heavily connected this summer with Benjamin Sesko and the Slovenia star was the subject of the club's transfer interest last summer before he finally signed a new contract with RB Leipzig.
It is understood that Arsenal also had difficulty agreeing a fee with Leipzig for Sesko before they approached a deal for Gyokees. Sesko has been associated with other clubs, including Al-Hilal, who are reportedly considering a huge offer for the frontman after they have learned that they will probably not sign Victor Osimhen.
