Arsenal will be the first club in female football history that spends £ 1 million on a female star with Olivia Smith because of a relocation from Liverpool to North Londen
Arsenal will break the world transmission record by making Liverpool's Olivia Smith the first £ 1 million female football player ever. The Gunners have already accepted an offer for the 20-year-old, with a movement subject to medical and personal conditions that have been agreed.
The deal indicates a historic moment for the women's game, where Smith would be the very first women's football player ever to exceed £ 1 million transfer costs. If the move continues, Arsenal would surpass the £ 900k that WSL -Rivalen Chelsea paid to sign Naomi Girma from San Diego Wave in January.
Smith only arrived at Liverpool last summer for a club record of £ 200k from the Portuguese side sporting Lisbon last summer last summer. The Canadian then scored seven goals in 20 WSL performances in its debut campaign.
She has left for her contract for a number of years, according to the BBC, but Liverpool regards her sale as an important chance of strengthening their team with the reimbursement.
Smith is simply the latest maximum relocation that Arsenal has made in the midst of a summer transfer edition. They have also signed Chloe Kelly on a free transfer from Manchester City, as well as Liverpool -defender Taylor Hinds.
That movement comes after former international of England Jill Scott had predicted a club to quickly surpass the £ 1 million mark. Speaking with Sky Sports, she said: “If you look at where it is now and you look back for 10 to 15 years, teams were not even professional. If you look at the crowds, we have 50,000 at some WSL games, while that was 200 people 10 to 15 years ago.
“If I look at it and look at these other ceilings, it feels like we can break everything, if the next season can be a transmission of £ 1 million – but I think we just be careful not to go too fast because we have to make sure that everything is sustainable and we do everything correctly.”
Arsenal will hope that their considerable edition will help them reduce the gap to Chelsea at the top of the WSL. The side of Sonia Bompastor won the competition with 12 points after he had become unbeaten the entire season.

Renee Sleesers are currently in charge of Arsenal women who took the reins of Jonas Eidevall in January after she previously acted as an assistant manager. And despite a difficult first season in the WSL, Slegers managed to lead Arsenal to the Champions League title, while the Noord -London -Kant Barcelona defeated in the final.
In the midst of their heavy editions, Arsenal now only has to wait a matter of weeks to find out their luminaires for the 2025/26 campaign. The matches of the following season will be announced on Friday, July 25.
