Manchester United completed the signing of a third player in the summer transfer window, but remain locked up in conversations with Brentford about Ster Forward Bryan Mbeumo
Manchester United has completed their third signing of the summer transfer window – but it is not Bryan Mbeumo. The club continues to talk to sign the Brentford star, but the discussions are continued after two bids have been rejected.
United, however, announced a signature on Thursday. France Youth International Enzo Kana-Biyik has signed with the club, in the footsteps of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.
But there is still a lot of work to do for United, who wants to fully overhaul the Ruben Amorim team after a miserable campaign of 2024/25, which ended 15th in the Premier League.
They still try to sell Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho in deals that will strengthen their budget for new signing sessions. There are now only five weeks until the start of the Premier League season of United, on August 17, which means that the clock is ticking. Here are the newest headlines in which the club is involved.
Third summer signature
United has signed Kana-Biyik and immediately sent it on loan. The 18-year-old attacker is considered one for the future after scoring nine goals in 18 games for Le Havre's Under-19S team last season.
He plays his season 2025/26 in Switzerland, in which United confirms in a statement: “After signing his contract, the emerging talent obtained a loan switch to the Swiss Super League side, Lausanne-Sport.
“Everyone at United wants to welcome Enzo in the club and wish him good luck for his loan.”
Mbeumo -Argence is increasing
United has returned two bids by Brentford for Mbeumo and there are still conversations in progress. The bees rejected the first offer of United of £ 55 million and then beat a second bid worth £ 62.5 million. They are said to believe that their appreciation from the Cameroon International is more than fair, given the £ 55 million Newcastle Nottingham Forest pay for Anthony Elanga.
Mbeumo is set to move to Old Trafford, but the transfer costs remain the bottleneck. United may want to go a further, with the planned movement of Tottenham for Yoane Wissa who may influence things.
Just like Mbeumo, Wissa had an excellent campaign in 2024/25 and Brentford could be reluctant to have them both left in the same window, especially after they lost manager Thomas Frank. “I think Man United should do this. I think it has been in the news for far too long to reach a situation in which you come to the end of the window and it doesn't happen,” said Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube channel.
“I think that would be a custard, egg on your facial situation for Man United, unless they go get someone else, another striker. Who did they wait as an alternative in the wings?”
Garnacho interviews continue
United is locked up in conversations with Napoli about the potential departure of Garnacho. Napoli failed with an £ 60 million bid for Garnacho in January, but is still enthusiastic about the international winger of Argentina.
The Serie A champions want to pay £ 45 million for Garnacho this time, but appreciate him higher. The question will be how long United is willing to drag negotiations away, since they want to sort his future and want the money to invest in the transfer market.
Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis thinks Garnacho will become an even better player as soon as he leaves United. “Garnacho has pace, flair and potential,” he said. “But that is not even why we want him. We want him because he is at United. Take him out and he becomes the player twice. There is an error at United that I cannot explain.”
