Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of West Ham United Voorwaart Mohammed Kudus.
Tottenham Hotspur Official statement:
We are delighted to confirm the signing of Mohammed Kudus van West Ham United, subject to a work permit.
The Ghana International has agreed to a long-term contract and will wear the number 20 shirt.
Born in Ghana, Kudus started his career at the Local Club Strong Tower before he came to the right to Dream Academy in 2012. Just before his 18th birthday he moved to Europe and joined the Danish side Nordsjælland in 2018. After making 57 performances and scoring 14 goals for their first team, he signed for Ajax in July 2020.
A dynamic and direct attacking player, Kudus made an immediate impact on Ajax, which was involved in four goals in his first three games. He helped Ajax to win both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup in his debut season. He made 87 performances about his time in the Netherlands and scored 27 goals, in which he won an Eredivisie title in 2021/22. The following season Kudus reached top form, with 18 goals in all competitions, including four in the Champions League.
In August 2023 he joined West Ham United and made his Premier League debut as a replacement next month. He scored twice in his first Europa League start and was nominated for Premier League Player of the Month in December. Kudus impressed in his first season in England and registered 14 goals and 9 assists. One of his goals – a stunning solo effort against Freiburg in the Europa League – won West Ham's Goal of the Season Award and was also nominated for the FIFA Puskás Award 2024.
In the past two years, the attacker has been called Ghana Player of the Year successively. During his two seasons at the London Stadium, he made 80 performances and scored 19 goals in all competitions.
In November 2019, Kudus debuted for the Senior Team of Ghana in November 2019 and scored on his debut in a 2-0 AFCon qualification gain in South Africa. Since then he has earned 42 caps and scored 12 goals for the black stars. He was part of Ghana's team at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, where he scored twice in the group phase, and was also shown in the Africa Cup of Nations 2023.
