Newcastle United considering move for Atletico Madrid midfielder

Atletico Madrid wants to continue an important rebuilding in their team that started last year, and with five outputs that have already been confirmed, more could follow. Newcastle United, however, emerged last summer as a possible destination for one of their signs.

Rodrigo de Paul is busy securing a switch to Major League Soccer, but the next one follows him can be Conor Gallagher. The former midfielder of Chelsea arrived for € 41 million last summer, but struggled last season to lock up a starting spot.

According to MD, Newcastle United are considering a move for Gallagher this summer. Newcastle -Manager Eddie Howe is a Gallagher fan and has presented him as an option, the feeling that he is a reliable performer to add to his midfield. Tottenham Hotspur is also connected to Gallagher, but he would have to cross a gap in London to get there.

Manager Diego Simeone is happy with the attitude of Gallagher and he has adapted well to the dressing room in his first season. The club is also happy with its contributions, the feeling that his first campaign was going well.

However, his future can amount to an simple case of economy. Gallagher, at 25, and with a contract until 2029, is one of the most lucrative sales that Los Colchoneros could make this summer, because they are trying to finance further reconstruction. The reality is that Gallagher only started 50% of the League agreements of Atletico in the past seasons and is therefore not an essential part.

It was previously reported that Atletico was not looking for Gallagher, but an offer would consider if it was about what they paid for him. Of course Atletico will start every negotiations slightly higher than they want, so it could cost again this summer in the range of € 40-50m.
