Madueke transfer news: Arsenal close to agreeing £52m deal for Chelsea winger

Chelsea has given Noni Madueke permission to leave their club World Cup in the US to complete a relocation of £ 52 million to Arsenal.

The English international is expected to join the Gunners for an initial £ 48 million plus £ 4 million in add-ons.

The 23-year-old will soon undergo a medical with Arsenal.

This summer Arsenal wanted to sign a left -sided forward, although Madueke played 33 times on the right side of Chelsea's attack during the 2024/25 season and only seven times left, which at that time does not help or help.

The Gunners, who also looked at a number of other players in the forward positions, including Rodrygo from Real Madrid, have both Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri to fill the right place.

Chelsea signed Madueke of PSV for £ 29 million in January 2023 and he has left for five years to his contract. However, the blues are considerably strengthened this summer in attacking areas.

Liam delap arrived for £ 30 million from Ipswich and Joao Pedro joined Brighton in a deal with a value of a maximum of £ 60 million.

The West-London club has also added Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund for a first fee of £ 48.5 million, plus £ 3.5 million in potential add-ons.

What about Rodrygo?

Real Madrid Vooruit Rodrygo is the other top goal that Arsenal has for that position, but it seems unlikely that they will sign both players.

Rodrygo would certainly be the more exciting signing given his profile and pedigree, a double winner of the Champions League.

Reports in Spain indicate that he is appreciated at around £ 69 million (€ 80 million) – more than Chelsea demanded for Madueke.

The future of Rodrygo at Real is in the air under the new boss Xabi Alonso, who gave him a limited role at the Club World Cup. The Brazil attacker only started one of their six games.

The 24-year-old has become known as a right-wing wing player in Madrid, but his preferred position is on the left, which would meet the needs of Arsenal.

Analysis: Is Madueke the answer for the search for the wing player of Arsenal?

Sam -Blitz from Sky Sports:

Arsenal's pursuit of Noni Madueke has been a surprise – and a considerable transfer costs against the Chelsea wing player would split the opinion in the Gunners Fanbase.

Arsenal is looking for a new wing player to renew their broad options, but many expected it to be no 1 -purpose Real Madrid's Rodrygo or Athletic Club's Nico Williams.

Both have the status and the talent to match what Bukayo Saka does on the opposite flank.

As a right wing, Madueke de Gunners would give a suitable cover for Saka – but is he the answer for Arsenal as a First -Cheice Left Winger?

The 23-year-old played the majority of last season on the right, but it is worth mentioning that eight from his last nine performances for Club and Country came on the left wing.

In his seven starts for Chelsea in the last term, Madueke did not succeed in getting a goal, to make an assist or to create a big chance in one of them. Looking at the numbers and his overall game, it seems more comfortable on the right.

However, it is worth noting that Chelsea won six of those seven games where Madueke Left began-the only defeat was the 2-0 loss in Newcastle, where Nicolas Jackson was sent and Madueke was sacrificed during the break.

Madueke received an assist for the winner of England against Andorra after he started on the left wing. But will Madueke considerably improve Arsenal's options in that position, although he might be cheaper than Rodrygo?

The need of Chelsea to balance books has opened the door for Madueke Move

Sky Sports News Chief Reporter Kaveh Solhekol:

“I think it is a bit of a complicated situation with regard to Madueke because he played well for Chelsea, because they signed him from PSV two and a half years ago for £ 29 million. But it is well documented that Chelsea has already spent a lot of money in the transfer window this summer and have to balance them.

“Last week they came to an agreement with UEFA that in fact said that if they want to register new players for the Champions League next season, they must ensure that their transfer expenditure is balanced this summer this summer by the players they sell.

“So they have signed players such as Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. That means they also have to sell players.”
