Charles Oliveria wants to be the backup fighter for Islam Makhachev vs. Arman Tsarukyan

In less than a month, the long-awaited rematch for 155-pound supremacy between Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan will finally take place.

The pair squared off for the first time in a brutal battle at UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Oleinik, in 2019, where they entertained the fans and earned a 'Fight of the Night' bonus.

In the end, it was Makhacehv who walked away with the win, and he has since cemented his place at the top of the pound-for-pound list.

But while he has become a star, Tsarukyan has been busy in the background putting together a resume worthy of challenging for the title.

With that in mind, fans can't wait for chapter two. And even if it falls apart, we'll probably still get an epic headline attraction, with Charles Oliveira expressing his desire to intervene.

When asked by TNT Sports if he will attend the event, the Brazilian replied: “I will be there even if I have to sit close to the cage.”

When asked if he would be willing to be the backup fighter, the warrior confirmed, “If the UFC wants that, why not?”

The dispute that could have led to Islam Makhachev suffering his only defeat

In his esteemed career, Makhachev has tasted the bitterness of defeat only once.

On an evening he would rather forget, the Dagestani was rendered unconscious by Adriano Martins, possibly due to a disagreement that had occurred in the camp.

What happened while the gifted athlete was preparing for the competition has now come to light.
